I love Baseball! I love this time of the year! Opening day excitement & hope for the fans of every team.
The green grass of ballparks boding well for home owners’ lawns to change from snow-ice white blankets to green carpets.

 

I also love baseball because it expects human failure.
You can go to the Baseball Hall of Fame for batting .333. This means that you can fail to get a hit 2 out of 3 times but still be admired.

 

One of the reasons that I love the Bible & the God of the Bible is that the Word is full of failures & full of God’s forgiveness & restoration! Adam & Eve, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Sarah, Mr. & Mrs. Lot, Saul, Samuel, David, Solomon, Samson, Jonah, Paul, Peter, the woman at the well, Mr. & Mrs. Ananias, Euodia & Syntyche … etc.

 

The Bible is full of failures! This is encouraging. I fail all the time. So do you. We aren’t home yet.  (Another parallel to Baseball!) Admit your failure to God & let your Lord pick you up from your failure. He’ll do the lifting in love & He will lift to love & restore.

 

“Seek the Lord while he may be found; call upon Him while he is near, let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return to the Lord, and He will have compassion on him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.” (Isaiah 55:6-7)
